I personally used a Fire Brigand Axe and Raw Broadsword through the early-game. Straight swords, which are quite powerful this time around (ask any PVPer) generally have low STR and DEX requirements.
In short, SL1 has access to some of the best weapons in the game. u/Im_A_Bass_Man has a list of all the available weapons for SL1 ( ) plus weapons available if you get certain stat boosting equipment.
The interesting thing about DS3 SL1 is that you, at 10 STR and 10 DEX, have a ton of choices in weapon selection.
